I used Shack Built to finish my basement. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I’ve worked on commercial construction jobs many times, so I know my way around a project. I was extremely pleased with the whole process from my initial meeting with Derick, to the design help they worked with me on, to my foreman, Marty. They treated my home with respect while they were here. They were extremely communicative, from budget use, to the daily schedule. I knew what was going on every step of the way. I will definitely think of Shack Built for any future jobs I may have.

The Shack Built team was incredible! Our expectations were continually managed throughout the process and everything was done in a timely manner. Our designer, Cara, was by and far amazing! She listened and really got to know our style and we couldn’t be happier with her design and the execution. All who worked on the project were kind and professional and very personable. We were able to go about our daily routines without feeling major imposition (there’s always some unavoidable imposition, of course). Marty was a hoot and one of the best project managers we’ve ever encountered. The whole project was beyond our expectations, from start to finish. We would recommend Shack Built to anyone considering a home improvement project.

My construction and COVID began at the same time. We encountered supply chain problems, subcontractors getting COVID, and problems with the city permitting process. All the “usual” headaches with a remodel were magnified due to COVID. Despite the uncertain and changing conditions Shack Built worked through them all. They always communicated with me regardless of the news. They guided me through all phases of the process and helped me make smart choices. Their attention to detail sets them apart from other contractors. “Good enough” is not good enough for Shack Built, they strive for excellence. I love my home addition!
Update: Prior to my remodel I had serious water issues in my basement. After the remodel the water issues were gone. After a recent overnight long rain storm I had no water, no moisture, no damp spots, nothing! The remodel is beautiful. The water mitigation was a miracle!

We had a major remodel done on our house that included a small addition, full kitchen remodel and expansion, half bath as well as a patio and sun porch and Derick and his team at did an amazing job. The job was fairly complex and presented some unique challenges, including material shortages, weather, as well as the normal difficulties of tying an addition into an older house; Marty, James and Cara, as well as the subs, rolled with the punches and delivered a series of spaces that we not only love but look like they had always been there. Like any major remodel, some problems cropped up along the way – they were dealt with quickly with lots of communication and always to our satisfaction.

I am in the trades and know many contractors in the metro either by reputation or I have personally worked with them. When it came time to select a contractor to work on our own home, Shack Built was our only choice…period.

We have been very pleased with the entire design process with Shack Built. From the first meeting, they took time to find out what our vision was and how we lived our lives to design the best kitchen for our use. Through drawings and renderings, we were able to visualize the outcome and they were very accommodating with any changes that we made. Their team was instrumental in helping with the decision making of cabinets, countertops, appliances, etc. and their vendor contacts were all exceptional. Everyone we have dealt with during this process has been professional, knowledgeable and willing to go above and beyond to ensure we got the design we wanted. We would highly recommend Shack Built to anyone looking for a design build company to work with.
